Dr. Williams is the field’s foremost expert in postsecondary literacy curriculum design and redesign, with particular expertise in the intersections of reading and writing. Her approach is always informed by a social justice perspective, as Dr. Williams is a fierce and passionate advocate for students. What continues to impress me is that whenever Dr. Williams speaks, those around her listen in ways that I don’t notice happening with other leaders in the field. It should also be acknowledged that Dr. Williams is one of very few people in the field of postsecondary literacy who is actively working to bridge sound curriculum theory with social justice pedagogies.

Dr. Jeanine has an amazing expertise in Literacy and Learning, and she has equipped our faculty with effective skills in teaching and assessing learners. I like her approach of putting emphasis on the context of the learners in order to inspire them to learn enthusiastically. She is also conversant with how the socio-cultural theories of literacy and learning influence the way people learn. She knows how to inspire teachers to adopt effective ways of teaching and assessing learners which bring out the desired learning outcomes in whichever context.

Interim President
Akilah Institute/Davis College, Rwanda

Jeanine is a sharp, creative, and engaging speaker whether running an in-person workshop or conducting a webinar. Those skills coupled with her impressive background make her an ideal candidate to consult for any higher education institution or organization interested in addressing that market.

Jeanine is a leading researcher and authority in the area of College Reading/Writing Instruction. She is committed to improving the practice, rather than promoting an agenda or selling specific reform products or “solutions.” That is rare to find these days in developmental education.

Dr. Patrick Saxon
Professor
Sam Houston State University

Dr. Jeanine has spent countless hours working on the curriculum and assessments for our educational program at the Akilah Institute, located in Kigali, Rwanda. She has also come to our Rwandan campus and delivered professional development on topics such as Sociocultural Theories of Literacy and Learning, Supporting Linguistic and Cultural Diversity, Academic and Disciplinary Literacies, and Authenticity and Contextualized Instruction. Being an institute that delivers education to women who have varying differences in their socio-economic and language backgrounds, this professional development has given our entire faculty more agency in identifying the developmental needs of our students. Furthermore, Dr. Williams has extensive experience in online education and is currently consulting for Davis College working on our online English courses. Her meticulous detail for course design, sequencing, and materials has allowed us to have customized courses which align to our learners’ levels.

Ariel Jagusztyn

She helped transform our program. She has tremendous expertise and experience, which she combines to create a bold vision. She is able to enact her vision through connecting theory and practice and understanding the context in which she is working. She is highly collaborative and able to build consensus to make meaningful, transformative change.
